Beginning from an End

Beginning from an End

At one point the tallgrass prairie was a massive ecosystem, stretching from Mexico to Canada, that was full of flora and fauna. As time went on, and humans developed, we stripped the land leaving the last remaining tallgrass prairie in all North America here in the Flint Hills of Kansas.

Artist

This mural is the work of Joe Renda Jr., a Chicago-based artist whose paintings capture the inherent connection humans have with the natural world. His work is highly realistic, bringing detailed depictions to life by juxtaposing them alongside surrealistic imagery. He urges his audience to surrender to nature’s “pull” and connect with their roots while viewing his paintings.

Donors

Primary funding by the Diehl Committee with support from BHS Construction.
